Where in Viet Nam
DW works with the population of central provinces of Viet Nam, and since 1999
has worked in particular in Thua Thien Hué province, as well as smaller
workshops in neighbouring provinces.
Thua Thien Hué (TTH) province is located in Central Vietnam. It borders
Quang Tri province in the north, and Da Nang and Quang Nam provinces to the
south.
Thua Thien Hué province has a quite narrow coastal plain with large
lagoons, backed by mountains. Rain is frequent much of the year, and winters
are wet and often quite cold, making living and working conditions harder.
Coastal lagoons stretch over 70 kilometres, and coastal districts house over
a quarter of the province’s 1 million population. Much of the province’s
economic activity relates to the lagoon and the sea, and people live in zones
that are at high risk from typhoon damage and have little opportunity to move
to lower risk areas.
The typhoon season stretches from June to December, and storms and flooding
are frequent

DW thực hiện dự án ở Miền Trung Việt Nam, cụ thể là tỉnh Thừa Thiên Huế cũng như tổ chức một số hội thảo ở các tỉnh lân cận từ năm 1999.
Tỉnh Thừa Thiên Huế (TTH) nằm ở Miền Trung Việt Nam, bắc giáp Quảng Trị, nam giáp Đà Nẵng, Quảng Nam.
Tỉnh Thừa Thiên Huế có vùng đồng bằng duyên hải hẹp, đầm phá rộng, phía sau là núi, lượng mưa rất nhiều trong năm. Mùa đông ẩm ướt và lạnh làm cho điều kiện sống và làm việc rất khó khăn.
Đầm phá vùng duyên hải trải dài hơn 70 km có số hộ dân chiếm hơn ¼ tổng số 1 triệu dân của tỉnh. Hầu hết các hoạt động kinh tế liên quan đến đầm phá và biển. Người dân sống ở vùng có nguy cơ cao về bão hầu như không có cơ hội chuyển sang sống ở những vùng có ít nguy cơ hơn.
Mùa mưa bão trải dài từ tháng 6 đến tháng 12. Đây là thời gian thường xuyên bị bão và lụt.
