DWF is the European base for Development Workshop (founded in 1973), with affiliated offices in Angola, Mali and Canada. Currently DWF manages and supports programmes and projects in West Africa and Indo-China, Asia and Central America. DWF actively promotes the development of local responsibility for programme management.
E-MAIL DWF is governed by an administrative council elected by its membership. DWF maintains a small permanent core staff, supported by proven additional expert inputs as required to provide support to local programme teams. In the conduct of its activities DWF collaborates with many other local and international partner organisations.
  DW is:

  • Committed to long-term development with programmes often developed over years with local partners in the community
  • Mindful of the value of indigenous knowledge and expertise.
Our programmes adapt traditional ways of working to new requirements and to available resources. We work in close col-laboration with local people - stakeholders and experts - and local organisations.
  • A leader in training community members, builders, health care workers, NGO and government staff.
  • Decentralized. Programme decisions and directions are made on-site, reducing bureaucratic delays and externally driven priorities
  • A learning organisation, emphasising the links between theory and practice in its projects. DW engages in a process of action & research to learn from and improve its practice.
  • Up-to-date with current research and training, maintaining close links to academic and profes-sional-training institutions, ensuring that personnel are familiar with existing best practices and are able to share their own expertise through teaching and publication.
